Swiss Alps, Val Ferret

Mt. Senjogatake

View to Ahorn and Stilluptal, with the Stillup Reservoir - Austria, Zillertal Alps

One more photo from my trip to the Swiss Alps...

The Finsteraarhorn (4,274 m (14,022 ft)) is the highest mountain in the Bernese Alps and the highest mountain in the canton of Berne. It is also the highest summit in the Alps lying outside the main chain, or watershed. The Finsteraarhorn is the ninth highest and third most prominent peak in the Alps. Since 2001 the whole massif and surrounding glaciers are part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site.

The Schreckhorn (4,078 m) is a mountain in the Bernese Alps. It is the highest peak located entirely in the canton of Berne. The Schreckhorn is the northernmost Alpine four-thousander.

I spent a summer hiking and camping around the Trinity Alps in northern California and I got this shot from my original Droid phone. Highway 3 passes by in the foreground, loops around and then bridges Trinity Lake. Or Stuart Fork when the lake is low. Gibson Peak is in the background. I wish I would have stayed around till sunset and took another shot, I'm sure it was breathtaking.

I took this from a skylight in the alps on the way down. I think around 1000m high. In the back to the right you can actually see mount blanc, highest mountain chain in europe.

I know it looks like daylight, but these photos were taken in the middle of the night a couple of days after the full moon. The snow cover reflects so much light, it almost seems like day. From the Gornergrat summit above Zermatt, Switzerland. The shots with the Matterhorn were taken from the hotel terrace, the other 2 were taken from the hotel room window.

The Central Eastern Alps (German: Zentrale Ostalpen), also referred to as Austrian Central Alps (Österreichische Zentralalpen) or just Central Alps[1] comprise the main chain of the Eastern Alps in Austria and the adjacent regions of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy and Slovenia.

The term "Central Alps" is very common in the Geography of Austria as one of the seven major landscape regions of the country. "Central Eastern Alps" is usually used in connexion with the Alpine Club classification of the Eastern Alps (Alpenvereinseinteilung, AVE). The Central Alps form the eastern part of the Alpine divide, its central chain of mountains, as well as those ranges that extend or accompany it to the north and south.
