The Rose
Texas history is full of legend and lore. One such tale is the "Yellow Rose of Texas" - a legend commemorated in song.
Listen to the song...a real oldie!!!

But is there such a rose?
To answer the questions, "Is there a Yellow Rose of Texas?" and if so "What is it?", the answer is there was a "Yellow Rose." But it was not a "what" it was a "who" - Emily West Morgan.
It follows, then, that we ask "Is there a rose named in honor of Emily and her heroic act?" Although a possibility, probably not

The Lily (William Blake)
The modest Rose puts forth a thorn,
The humble sheep a threatening horn:
While the Lily yellow shall in love delight,
Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.

A shot of an Yellow Iris up against the blue sky. Took this shot in the late afternoon on a bright clear day.
One from the archives for Sliders Sunday :-)
Detail of a sculpture named Luizaerc (2012, Nick Ervinck)
Another shot from the Amish Store while waiting in the truck.
Thank you all for the great comments and faves, have a wonderful Sunday!
I'm amazed my hay fever didn't kick in as the air was filled with the scent of oil seed rape. My eyes were more stung by the shock of yellow everywhere. Taken in the fields that top Streatley Hill, West Berkshire.
Photo réalisée pour un concours photographique (grainedephotographe sur instagram) ici la grande/grosse version (pas carrée)
Le thème c'est la bouffe :)
Shot I made for a photo contest (grainedephotographe on instagram) here the big (not square) version.
The topic was FOOD.
Yellow Corvette looks like new and may be, it is however a very bright yellow, problem glows in the dark, shot in North Carolina.
The yellow rapeseed fields are a bonus at this time of year, suddenly the farmer's fields turn yellow, a perfect contrast to the green one's. These field's always seem to have the obligatory tracks,as captured here.

I was thinking of Coldplay's song "Yellow" as I was photographing this flower:
Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah, they were all yellow.
Yellow. The colour of the field we found during our holidays in Spain. Really beautiful scenery.
Thank you all for your appreciation.

Yellow-fronted Canaries were introduced from Africa in the 1960s, and are now found on the Big Island and Oahu. Like the Saffron Finch, they are more common on the dry side of the island but can also be found on the wet side, including some of the strongholds of the native honeycreepers.
